Getting started with creating apps

What is an app?

Apps provide scope to your project and enable you to give role-based access to your project by inviting teammates, accessing webhooks, and much more. You can create apps on the dashboard to retrieve public and secret keys so you can start integrating Mono with your products.

How to create an app

To get started creating apps, you can watch this short video to see how or follow the steps below:

  1. You can create apps by navigating to the Apps tab on the sidebar and selecting the "Create an app" button.

    Alternatively, you can create your first app by clicking the 'create app' button on the Overview page.

  2. Next, add an image (optional) and enter the App name and the display name (optional) for your App. You can also set your App name as the display name using the radio button. You can then select which Mono product you'd like to use with the App.

  3. Select the account type you'd like your customers to use to connect their financial accounts to your business.

  4. Select the scope of the app, these signify the Mono services associated with your app. This can include Payments (DirectPay), Statements, etc.

  5. Select the institution scope you would like to offer to users

  6. Finally, select your industry and click the "Create app" button.

  1. A Business needs to be live to create an app.

  2. You can test your integration in sandbox mode by following the instructions in this article.
